The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benton goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Brooks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Benton tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Benton tries to hold on but Brooks pushes him away.

Benton tries to reverse the position but Brooks maintains control.

Brooks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Brooks stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Benton to get to his feet.

Benton cracks Brooks with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Benton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Brooks shoots for a double leg takedown but Benton sprawls well. He's pushed Brooks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Benton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brooks moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brooks takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Brooks doesn't manage to clinch there - Benton circles away.

Rusty Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Benton is breathing heavily.
Brooks moves out of range of the body kick from Benton.
Brooks throws a right hand that Benton ducks under and follows up with a left that Benton also avoids with ease.
Brooks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Benton pinned against the cage. Benton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brooks seems to have recovered his senses.
Sam Benton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rusty Brooks.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rusty Brooks just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Benton scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Benton tries to bum rush Brooks with a series of wild strikes but Brooks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Brooks shoots in looking for a takedown. Benton tries to sprawl out of it but Brooks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Benton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Benton connects with a nice cross there... Brooks is looking wobbly and Benton recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Brooks to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Benton jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
