Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Butch Abbas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spencer has chosen Amazing as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbas darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Abbas is trying to control. Spencer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Abbas not landing any meaningful shots this time. Spencer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Abbas scores with a couple of nice shots. Spencer is trying to maintain the position but Abbas is very close to passing his half guard. Spencer decides to take the fight back to the feet. Spencer shoots and misses and Abbas counters with a shoot takedown. Spencer fights it but they end up in guard. Abbas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Abbas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Abbas trying to control the position from guard on top but Spencer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spencer keeping full guard, as Abbas tries to pass. Abbas stands and throws Spencer's legs to the side, diving into side control. Spencer is not content to let Abbas control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Spencer is trying to control Abbas's posture but Abbas avoids it. Spencer tries to buck Abbas off but Abbas is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Spencer slips a straight right by Abbas. Abbas ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Abbas lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Abbas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Spencer has hold of Abbas's hands but Abbas slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Abbas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Spencer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Spencer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Abbas moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Abbas pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Spencer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abbas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Abbas distracts Spencer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Spencer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abbas is one step ahead there. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Spencer working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Spencer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Spencer looking to control.
Abbas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abbas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Abbas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Butch Abbas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Spencer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Abbas avoids it really well and circles away. Spencer looks for a takedown but Abbas sprawls well. Abbas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that's the end of the fight! Butch Abbas showed his dominance in that final round. Well Abbas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
