PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brandon DaSilva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Casillas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Trey Casillas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brandon DaSilva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trey Casillas!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DaSilva shoots in looking for a takedown. Casillas tries to sprawl out of it but DaSilva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Casillas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Casillas throws a head kick that DaSilva semi-blocks.
DaSilva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Casillas avoids it really well and circles away.
Casillas slaps away a takedown attempt from DaSilva, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon DaSilva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from DaSilva.
DaSilva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Casillas as he jumps to the side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from DaSilva.

DaSilva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Casillas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten DaSilva somewhat.

Casillas closes the distance and clinches.

Casillas manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Casillas wants to stand but DaSilva is controlling the position.

DaSilva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Casillas wants to stand up but DaSilva is controlling him.

DaSilva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and DaSilva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DaSilva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
DaSilva shoots in looking for a takedown. Casillas tries to sprawl out of it but DaSilva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Casillas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
DaSilva is breathing heavily.
DaSilva shoots in but no luck this time.

Casillas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Casillas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with DaSilva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

DaSilva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Casillas defends well.

Casillas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Casillas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. DaSilva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

DaSilva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Casillas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Casillas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Casillas trying to control the position from guard on top but DaSilva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
DaSilva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Casillas's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Trey Casillas will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Casillas counters with a nice double leg into guard.

DaSilva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Casillas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

DaSilva is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Casillas has his hands clasped together but DaSilva extends an breaks Casillas's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by DaSilva.
