Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bezerra da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raimundao Capetao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Capetao shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts da Silva as he jumps to the side.

Capetao is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Bezerra da Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

da Silva has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Capetao is proving hard to escape from.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Capetao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? da Silva is fending him off so far but Capetao persists. Nope, da Silva circles away and we're back to standing.

and Capetao holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Raimundao Capetao will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Capetao counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Capetao wants to clinch up but da Silva keeps it at a distance.

and Capetao counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Capetao won't allow da Silva to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Capetao drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Capetao jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Capetao wants to get up but he can't break da Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Capetao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but da Silva moves away.

and da Silva counters by moving into the clinch.
Capetao jumps guard but da Silva stands there with Capetao around his waist. Capetao gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

da Silva pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Capetao has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but da Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
da Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Capetao on the ground.
Capetao had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. da Silva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Capetao Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take da Silva's back instead.

da Silva is trying to get back to his feet but Capetao has full control of the position and if anything, da Silva has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Capetao thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raimundao Capetao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Capetao counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
da Silva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if da Silva tries to get out of the position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Capetao can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as da Silva is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Capetao working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. da Silva looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Capetao! Submission of the night perhaps?
