Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artur Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belfort comes into the arena with Stand & Deliver blaring out of the sound system. Paulo Belfort could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Artur Lima's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Lima looking for a guillotine from mount but Belfort is having none of it.
Lima seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Belfort is holding on tight.
Lima avoids the attempt from Belfort to control.
Belfort working to try and regain half guard.
Lima takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lima is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Belfort to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Belfort shrugs it off.

Lima can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Belfort is looking to escape.

Belfort defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lima.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lima feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lima passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Lima thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

and Belfort counters with a left and a right that stings Lima.
Belfort tries to close the distance and clinch but Lima swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lima seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belfort accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lima tries to get to full guard but Belfort has control of the leg.
Lima is not content to let Belfort control the position.
Lima avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Belfort.
Belfort is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Lima manages to get to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lima is on top in guard.

Artur Lima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Lima counters with a single leg into guard. Belfort didn't expect that.

Lima drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Lima seems to have locked his on tight now - Belfort screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Lima, as he picks up the win!
