Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Ung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Ung!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ung feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ung slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ruas is trying to keep Ung in close.

Ruas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ruas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ung is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ruas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ruas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ung is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ung not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ruas tries to clinch but Ung is having none of it.
Ruas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ung counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ung is stalling in the full guard.
Let's hope that Ung has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Ung counters with a shoot takedown. Ruas fights it but they end up in guard.
Ruas is breathing heavily.
Ung is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ruas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ung stands up from Ruas's guard - Ung perhaps looking for a knockout.

Ung gets in close and instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Ung dominated that round.
That's time! Ruas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Ung gets a takedown into half guard.

Ung decides to return to a standing position.
Ruas tries for a takedown but Ung circles away easily

and Ung counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ung takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ung is looking for a kimura but Ruas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ung to get the leverage.

Ung content to control rather than advance.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kevin Ung just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ruas fails with the takedown

and Ung counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ung.
Ung tries to free his leg and advance position but Ruas is retaining full guard.
Ung slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ung gets to his feet - Ruas follows without any prompting.

Ung fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ruas sprawls well initially but Ung persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Ung seems content to control.
Ung is thwarting Ruas's attempts to control the position.
Ung lands strikes from half guard.
Ung takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kevin Ung has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ung has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ung moves into the clinch successfully.
Ruas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ruas is trying to stall.
Carlos Ruas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kevin Ung is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ung wants the takedown. Ruas is fighting it off but Ung persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ruas's guard against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kevin Ung comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ung has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
