The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Zambuco avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A slapping body kick lands there for Zambuco.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Zambuco wants to clinch
and Smith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Smith passes Zambuco's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Zambuco has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.
Smith prevents Zambuco from standing back up.

Smith seems to be working for a kimura but Zambuco defends the submission attempt.
Zambuco is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zambuco avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Zambuco wants to get back to full guard.
Zambuco is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard.
Smith thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Smith tries to bum rush Zambuco with a series of wild strikes but Zambuco uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Zambuco's corner calls for a 1-2. Zambuco obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zambuco's guard.

Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Zambuco is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Zambuco throws an off balance right hand
and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zambuco's guard.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Zambuco dives on top into guard.

Smith is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Zambuco has his hands clasped together but Smith extends an breaks Zambuco's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Smith.
