Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Velvet Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Big Pimpin kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Velvet Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Cole! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Velvet Jones! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cole uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones. Nice shot lands for Cole. Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cole checks a leg kick nicely. Jones slips a jab and a cross from Cole.
Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Cole's shoulder, as Cole tries to avoid the shot. Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cole. Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing. Jones lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
It looks like Alex Cole has been cut. Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cole manages to avoid it. Jones takes a swing at Cole's ribcage but misses. Cole staying out of range there. Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

so Cole counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Cole controlling from the top position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cole scoring with punches to the head and body. Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cole. Cole takes a decent strike to the side of the head. Jones keeping moving, preventing Cole from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones wants to stand up but Cole is controlling him. Cole working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones's head. Cole lands a couple of digs. Cole landing some decent shots from guard. Jones wants to stand but Cole is controlling the position. Cole gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cole moves away from the strike by Jones. Cole tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Velvet Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cole tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cole somewhat. Cole throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A swing and a miss from Jones. Jones takes a shot right to the bread basket. Cole ducks under a wild hook from Jones. Jones lands a glancing blow to the side of Cole's head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones misses with a straight right. Jones cracks Cole with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!

Jones shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cole cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nice defenses there by Jones. Jones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cole counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Jones works on Cole's body with a couple of short punches. Jones has Cole pressed against the cage, preventing Cole from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Jones misses with a hook from the clinch. Jones working aggressively here.

Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing. Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Cole counter with a right hand. A decent looking cross lands there for Jones. Jones throws a shot from downtown. Cole moves away and avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Cole's shoulder, as Cole tries to avoid the shot. Nice defenses there by Cole. Jones connects with a crisp jab. A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target. Nice uppercut lands for Cole. That snapped Jones's head back.
Jones throws a hook but Cole blocks it. Jones tries to clinch up and Cole counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Cole breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cole connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones thows a leg kick but Cole checks it and Cole counters with a takedown into side control. Cole is chipping away with strikes.

Cole shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Cole missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jones pushes Cole off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Cole keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cole tries to clinch up. Cole takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Jones throws a hook but Cole blocks it. Jones missing with a left hand there. Cole was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cole cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs. Cole ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Cole counters with a lovely shot to the body. Jones darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Alex Cole's cut is getting worse. Jones throws a combination that misses and Cole counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cole. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cole is controlling him. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones is breathing heavily. Cole is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Cole throws a big right hand that misses. Cole lands a couple of decent looking shots. Cole working some strikes from top position. Cole throwing strikes but missing. Cole postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Cole postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Cole advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to escape but Cole is in control. Cole creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Jones striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Jones is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cole off and has taken his back! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cole trying to control the hands but Jones breaks the grip. Jones trying to control momentarily.
Jones wants to control the position but Cole frees himself and scrambles - Jones manages to regain control in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones decides to stand back up. A decent looking cross lands there for Cole. Cole fails to land with a series of punches.
Velvet Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones misses with an uppercut. Cole saw that one coming. Velvet Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jones missing with a left hand there. Cole was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cole looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cole gets in close and instigates a clinch. Jones lands a body punch.

He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Cole prevents Jones from getting back to his feet. Jones throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Cole cracks Jones with a big right hand but Jones just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Jones misses with an elbow from the bottom. Cole is putting a hurting on Jones here, landing some big shots from side control. Jones manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cole's best efforts. Cole slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead. Jones scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Cole manages to mount him!
Cole has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cole has control of Jones's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jones regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Alex Cole overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cole lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Cole with a couple of short strikes. Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cole landing punches. Jones taking shots to the head.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cole cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Cole with the ground and pound from mount. Jones's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Cole wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely. Cole working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cole lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jones hang on? Cole breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow. Jones tries to buck Cole off but he can't manage it. Cole landing strikes from the mount and Jones is in trouble! Cole unloading with bombs! Jones is squirming around, avoiding Cole's attempts to control the action. Cole working Jones over with strikes here. Jones bucks up and throws Cole to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Cole. The fight stays on the outside here - Cole looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cole changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Good anticipation by Cole. Velvet Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cole pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jones misses with a looping right. And that's the end of the fight! Alex Cole showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cole, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
