Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Valadez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by 2pac - Lost Souls. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valadez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Valadez is trying to work for a kimura but Diaz is defending well.
Diaz tries to kick Valadez off but Valadez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Valadez is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Valadez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Diaz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Valadez preventing the sweep. Diaz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Valadez is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Valadez tries to control but Diaz wriggling away. Valadez dominating with strikes here. Valadez wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely. Valadez lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Valadez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Diaz is working to get back to half guard.

Diaz with a poor takedown and Valadez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Valadez. Valadez blocks an elbow strike. Diaz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Diaz tightens his grip and picks Valadez up, before dumping him to the ground. Valadez manages to land in guard. Diaz is fighting to break Valadez's control of his arms but Valadez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Valadez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Valadez wants to sweep but no luck. Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Valadez is retaining full guard. Valadez has his hands on Diaz's head, controlling the position. Valadez is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Valadez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diaz, into his guard. Valadez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Valadez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diaz throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Valadez. Diaz throws a sloppy head kick and Valadez moves out of range easily. Valadez rushes Diaz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Valadez controlling the action here for a moment.
Valadez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Valadez closes the distance and pushes Diaz back into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valadez drags the fight down to the ground.
Diaz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Valadez's head. Diaz tries to stand but Valadez is controlling from the bottom. Valadez keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. Diaz thows a big elbow that misses. Valadez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Valadez wriggles free and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Valadez works his way to full guard. Good work. Diaz scoring with some ground and pound. Valadez wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling him. Valadez looking to control.
David Valadez has got the better of the ground game so far. Valadez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Valadez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diaz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz stands and throws Valadez's legs to the side, diving into side control. You can see the frustration on Valadez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Diaz wants to stand but Valadez is controlling his arm. Diaz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Valadez can't do much from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but David Valadez will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Diaz throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Diaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Diaz thows a huge punch but Valadez dodges it nicely.

Valadez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Valadez. Diaz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Valadez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Valadez scores with a takedown into Diaz's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Valadez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Valadez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Valadez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Valadez pushes down on Diaz's leg and manages to get into half guard. Diaz actively working from the bottom here. Valadez gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Valadez jumps guard and drags Diaz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Diaz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Valadez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Valadez keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Valadez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Valadez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Diaz is aware though and is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Valadez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Diaz tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Valadez avoids it. Valadez lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Valadez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Valadez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Diaz sprawls well. Diaz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Valadez gets slowly back to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Valadez on that attempt. Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gilbert Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Valadez. Diaz has a takedown stuffed.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Valadez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Valadez is tightening it up a little... Diaz has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Diaz reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Diaz taps out! nice BJJ there by Valadez!
