Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ivan Afawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Satriani!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Afawk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Satriani as he avoids it easily.
Joe Satriani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Satriani misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Satriani throws a sloppy head kick and Afawk moves out of range easily.
Afawk closes this distance looking for a takedown but Satriani circles away.
Afawk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Satriani but Satriani pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Afawk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Afawk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Satriani keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Satriani throws the kick towards the body but Afawk avoids it.
Satriani throws a wild body kick that Afawk sees coming a mile off.

Satriani throws a push kick but Afawk slaps the foot to one side.
Afawk ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Afawk keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Satriani.
Satriani throws a quick inside leg kick.
Satriani lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Satriani throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Satriani throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Afawk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Satriani!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Afawk looking to finish with strikes here!
Afawk punching from mount but Satriani doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Satriani is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Satriani defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Afawk.
You get the feeling that Satriani really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Afawk with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Satriani really wants to buck Afawk off and get back to his feet.

Afawk working for a guillotine from mount but Satriani is in no mood to give up.
Satriani is squirming around, avoiding Afawk's attempts to control the action.
Afawk looking to ground and pound but Satriani is blocking nicely.
Afawk thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
You get the feeling that Satriani really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Afawk goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Satriani is on top in guard.
Satriani must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Satriani has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Afawk is proving hard to escape from.
Afawk trying to keep a closed guard but Satriani is proving a slippery customer.
Satriani would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Satriani dominated that round.

Satriani misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Afawk shoots in and bounces Satriani off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Satriani wants to get back to his feet but Afawk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Afawk thows a big elbow that misses.
Afawk advances position into side control!
Afawk wants to control but Satriani is keeping him busy.
Satriani parries the strikes from Afawk easily there. Afawk is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Satriani to escape.
Afawk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Afawk looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Afawk prevents Satriani from escaping the position.

Afawk working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Satriani is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Afawk is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Afawk swings around for an armbar but Satriani sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Afawk's guard.
Satriani wanted to stand there but Afawk had control of the position.
Afawk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Satriani's guard.
Satriani is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Afawk is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Afawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Satriani is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Satriani wriggles free and stands up.

Afawk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Afawk postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Afawk stops Satriani from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Afawk trying to control the position from guard on top but Satriani is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Afawk throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Afawk throws a big right hand that misses.
Afawk trying to stand up but can't free himself from Satriani's guard.
Afawk looking to pass the guard.

Afawk drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Afawk jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A combination from Afawk does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Afawk dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Afawk avoids the head kick by Satriani.
A nice leg kick lands there from Satriani.
Satriani throws a nice head kick!
Satriani goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circle, before Satriani throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Afawk's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Satriani lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Joe Satriani!
