Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mariusz Style (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Murphy acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mariusz Style !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Style pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Murphy is looking to clinch but Style is avoiding it.
Style looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Murphy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Style is trying to improve his position.

Murphy decides to stand back up.

Murphy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Style napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Style keeps working.
Murphy just content to control the position.
Style can't do much from the bottom here.

Style is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Murphy has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Murphy wants to control but Style is keeping him busy.
Style is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Style sneaks back into half guard.
Murphy wants to pass to mount but Style is defending the position.
Murphy is figuring out what he wants to do next.
I looks like Murphy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Style looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Murphy wants to advance to full mount but Style doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Murphy is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Murphy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Murphy wants to pass the guard but Style is keeping the position.
Murphy wants to control from the top but Style keeps moving.

Style controls Murphy momentarily but Murphy frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Style tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Style counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Style wants to get up but he can't break Murphy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Murphy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Style !
Style is trying to stand.
Style is breathing heavily.
Style is desperately trying to improve his position but Murphy has a good base and remains in mount.
Murphy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Murphy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Style tries to close the distance and clinch up but Murphy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mariusz Style is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Murphy wants to clinch up but Style keeps it at a distance.
Style doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Murphy counters with a shoot takedown. Style fights it but they end up in guard.
Murphy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Murphy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Murphy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Style manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Murphy manages to get himself to full guard.
Murphy is looking to stand up but Style isn't so interested in that idea.

Style wants to stand but Murphy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Murphy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Style is controlling him.
Style stopping the sweep attempt from Murphy.

Murphy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Style is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Murphy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Style 's back instead.
Murphy is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Will Murphy go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Style tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Style is desperately trying to improve his position but Murphy has a good base and remains in mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Murphy throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Style because Murphy loaded up on that one.
Murphy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Style tries to reverse the position but Murphy maintains control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

John Murphy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Style misses with a takedown
and Murphy counters with a two punch combo.

Murphy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Murphy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Style keeps working.
Murphy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Style . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Despite being in the dominant position, John Murphy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Style with a lazy takedown attempt

and Murphy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Style 's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Style won't allow Murphy to pass to mount.
Murphy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Murphy wants to control but Style is keeping him busy.
Style is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Murphy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Murphy's back!
John Murphy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Murphy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
