PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil McGoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Phil McGoo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Phil McGoo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil McGoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGoo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fisher's half guard.

McGoo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fisher is just riding it out for now. McGoo eventually gives up the hold.
McGoo content to control rather than advance.
McGoo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McGoo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Fisher is trying to maintain the position but McGoo is very close to passing his half guard.
Fisher wants to get back to his feet.
Fisher pushes McGoo off but McGoo dives into side control.

McGoo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Fisher lands with a nice combination. McGoo backs away looking to recover.
McGoo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McGoo moves into the clinch successfully.
A frustrated look appears on Fisher's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

McGoo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
McGoo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fisher wants to hold on but McGoo pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fisher throws a strike but has given up his back in the process.

McGoo is looking for the choke from the back position but Fisher is controlling his hands well.
Fisher trying to control but not successfully.
Fisher is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by McGoo.
Fisher is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Fisher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
McGoo lands shots from the back.
Fisher is really stuck here.
Fisher controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

McGoo lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by McGoo.
McGoo is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. McGoo gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. McGoo gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. McGoo apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Fisher blocks a head kick by McGoo.
McGoo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McGoo is breathing heavily.

McGoo gets a clinch.
Fisher has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fisher has had enough of the clinch but McGoo keeps him there for the moment.
McGoo has Fisher pressed against the cage, preventing Fisher from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Fisher is pressed up against the cage. McGoo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fisher down to the mat. Fisher avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
McGoo looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Left hook, right uppercut from Fisher.
Fisher fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fisher tries to clinch but McGoo moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fisher lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McGoo circles away quickly and effectively.
Fisher swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fisher goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Fisher tries to clinch but fails miserably

and McGoo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McGoo prevents Fisher from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Fisher's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McGoo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fisher smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil McGoo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fisher is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fisher moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Fisher wants to clinch up but McGoo keeps it at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and McGoo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Phil McGoo will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fisher connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Fisher tried to score with a low kick but McGoo checks it.

McGoo has managed to clinch.
Fisher wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
McGoo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Fisher wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McGoo has him pressed against the cage.
Fisher is trying to force a seperation but McGoo has the dominant position.
Fisher can't break the clinch.
Fisher is pressed up against the cage. McGoo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fisher down to the mat. Fisher avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
McGoo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fisher tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A left lands for Fisher.
Fisher connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Some wild striking there from Fisher.
McGoo blocks a head kick by Fisher.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGoo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McGoo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Fisher fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fisher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fisher lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McGoo at a distance.
Fisher lunges at McGoo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by McGoo's hand.
Fisher throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Fisher lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


McGoo is rocked!
Phil McGoo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fisher lands a jab to the nose.
Oh McGoo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fisher scores with a nice head shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fisher lands a hook that stumbles McGoo back into the cage. Fisher follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping McGoo to the canvas! Fisher pounces and lands several unanswered shots - McGoo has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
