Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vagner Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Cordeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pena comes to the cage accompanied by Vagner Song. Cordeiro comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Perry Mason kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cordeiro tries to clinch up.
Rafael Cordeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slapping body kick lands there for Pena.
Pena goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Pena darts in and clinches Cordeiro up against the cage.
Pena connects with a knee to the head.
Pena is trying to break the clinch but Cordeiro is controlling him.
Pena's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pena leaves Cordeiro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Cordeiro counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cordeiro.

Cordeiro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pena to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Pena counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Pena bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cordeiro's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pena is pressed up against the cage. Cordeiro has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pena down to the mat. Pena avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pena throws a head kick but Cordeiro moves out of range.

Cordeiro unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pena lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Vagner Pena overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cordeiro stalling.
Cordeiro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cordeiro wants to stand up but Pena has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Cordeiro works his foot free and advances to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pena tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Pena tries to improve his position but instead Cordeiro has taken his back!
Cordeiro lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
The referee is taking a good look at Pena as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Cordeiro!
Cordeiro throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Cordeiro just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Well Pena has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
