Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juggaloz Kai!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson wants to clinch up but Kai keeps it at a distance.
Johnson lands with a straight right. Kai didn't see that one coming.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kai sprawls well. Kai wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Kai misses with a takedown
and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Kai's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson stops Kai from standing up.
Kai looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kai keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
Kai looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Johnson has picked Kai up and slammed him! Kai can't keep hold of the triangle and Johnson manages to pass to side control!
Kai manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Kai eventually gives up the hold.
Kai looks gassed!
Johnson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Kai. Oh but Johnson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Kai goes limp - he's gone! Johnson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). David Johnson!
