Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan De Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and joe d (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Rio comes into the arena with somos de calle blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
d gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows De Rio to score an easy takedown into full guard.
De Rio with a flurry of punches that miss.
d utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and De Rio counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for d!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

De Rio lands a big elbow.
d wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by De Rio.
De Rio throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for d because De Rio loaded up on that one.
De Rio unloads with some shots from mount but d bucks and avoids them well.
d is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
De Rio sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The fighters are battling for position here. d manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
d is looking to sinch up a triangle. De Rio throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to d's body to avoid the submission. d has instead reached around De Rio's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! d arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
