PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Murdoch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jiu jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murdoch comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Murdoch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, jiu jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murdoch defends well against a solid takedown attempt from jitsu.
No luck with that takedown attempt from jitsu.
jitsu avoids the head kick by Murdoch.
jitsu looks to score with a jab to the body but Murdoch is just out of range.
jitsu fails in his attempt to clinch.
jitsu takes one to the side of the head.

jitsu moves into the clinch successfully.
Murdoch is trying to break the clinch but jitsu has him pressed against the cage.
jitsu tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Murdoch just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mike Murdoch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jiu jitsu.

jitsu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
jitsu shoots for a takedown but Murdoch saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Murdoch fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

jitsu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

jitsu misses with the ground and pound.
Murdoch is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Murdoch dodges the ground and pound from jitsu.
Murdoch prevents jitsu from improving position.
jitsu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Murdoch is looking to work his way out of this bad position but jitsu is controlling him well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
jitsu sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Murdoch is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

jitsu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Murdoch is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Murdoch prevents jitsu from moving into mount.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Murdoch keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

jitsu takes a swing at Murdoch's ribcage but misses.
jitsu is looking to chop away at Murdoch's legs.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from jitsu.
A combination from Murdoch does no damage.
Murdoch throws a hook to the side of jitsu's head but jitsu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

jitsu is looking for a kimura but Murdoch is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for jitsu to get the leverage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murdoch wanted to stand there but jitsu had control of the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now jitsu is on top in guard.
Murdoch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for jitsu on the ground.

jitsu is in close to Murdoch's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Murdoch is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst jitsu is controlling him.

jitsu slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

jitsu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murdoch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

jitsu throws an elbow but Murdoch slips to the side and avoids it well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

jitsu tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

jitsu misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

jitsu tries to advance position but instead Murdoch slips a leg back in to half guard.

jitsu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

jitsu moves into the clinch.

jitsu manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
jitsu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
jitsu trying to control the action but Murdoch is working from the bottom.
jitsu wants to pass the guard but Murdoch is defending well.

jiu jitsu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

jitsu missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
jitsu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

jiu jitsu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got jitsu winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
