Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diesel Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Retso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Diesel Maddox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Drake Retso! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Retso, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Retso throws a series of punches but Maddox moves out of range. Maddox defending well as Retso loads up on a big left hand. Retso shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Maddox manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Maddox keeping full guard, as Retso tries to pass. Retso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Maddox looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Retso has picked Maddox up and slammed him! Maddox can't keep hold of the triangle and Retso manages to pass to side control! Retso lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Maddox down.
Retso working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Maddox gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Retso is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Maddox wants to get back to full guard. Maddox looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Retso seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Maddox avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Retso. Maddox wants to control but Retso is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maddox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Retso frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Retso is in the full mount, landing strikes. Maddox is trying to escape the mount.
Retso lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Maddox regains half guard. Maddox moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Retso is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Retso wants to stand but Maddox has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Retso works over Maddox with some ground and pound from guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Retso landing some decent shots from guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Retso with a nice head shot there. Retso won't allow Maddox to sweep him here. Retso keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Maddox's head.
Maddox is rocked! There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maddox is on top in guard.
Retso looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Retso striking off his back but it's not causing Maddox any problems. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Maddox preventing the sweep. Retso working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maddox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maddox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maddox passes Retso's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Retso gets full guard. Retso throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Retso can do anything to dispel that myth. Maddox pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Retso is keeping the position for now. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Retso doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Retso is trying to keep Maddox in close.
Retso is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Maddox is controlling him. Maddox wants to pass the guard but Retso is keeping the position. Maddox is working hard here to advance position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Retso uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maddox.
Retso lunges at Maddox with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Maddox's hand. Maddox throws a big shot that misses. Maddox throws a hook to the side of Retso's head but Retso sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Retso fails to land with a series of punches.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Retso looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Maddox! Retso with a couple of short strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Retso with good strikes from the mount here! Retso postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Maddox looks a forlorn figure.
Oh Maddox is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Retso postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Maddox bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Retso and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Drake Retso!
