PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Los Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Los Anjos comes to the cage accompanied by After Dark - Tito and Tarantula. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jimmy Muay Thai!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Los Anjos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Muay Thai sprawls well initially but Los Anjos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Los Anjos is trying to work for a kimura but Muay Thai is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Muay Thai looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Los Anjos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Muay Thai defends it well.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Los Anjos is thwarting Muay Thai's attempts to control the position.

Muay Thai looking for submissions off his back.

Los Anjos decides to return to a standing position.
Los Anjos lands a head kick!
Muay Thai tries to clinch but Los Anjos is having none of it.

Muay Thai had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Los Anjos defends it easily.

Los Anjos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Muay Thai looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Muay Thai looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Muay Thai!
Muay Thai tries to get to his feet but Los Anjos is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Muay Thai in his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Los Anjos keeping moving, preventing Muay Thai from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Los Anjos has his hands on Muay Thai's head, controlling the position.
Los Anjos preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Muay Thai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Los Anjos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Los Anjos pushes Muay Thai off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Los Anjos moves into the clinch.
Los Anjos is working for takedown but Muay Thai is calmly controlling the position for now.
Los Anjos is breathing heavily.

Muay Thai ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Muay Thai no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Muay Thai working for a triangle but Los Anjos defends it easily.

Muay Thai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Los Anjos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Los Anjos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Los Anjos could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Los Anjos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Los Anjos has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Muay Thai to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Los Anjos is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Muay Thai pulls down on the head and he's put Los Anjos to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jimmy Muay Thai!
