Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harrison Hardy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Bird! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hardy takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Hardy swats away the attempt to clinch by Bird. Hardy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bird. The fight stays on the outside here - Bird looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Bird avoids the body shot from Hardy.
Bird moves in looking to clinch but Hardy pushes him off. Jay Bird seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hardy misses with a body shot.
Hardy avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hardy takes a swing at Bird's ribcage but misses. Bird is looking to clinch but Hardy is avoiding it.

Hardy pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bird tumbling to the mat - Hardy dives into Bird's guard. Bird wants to sweep here but Hardy controlling him for the moment. Bird is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Bird tries to get to full guard but Hardy has control of the leg. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bird misses with a two punch combination.
Hardy rushes Bird and presses him up against the cage. Hardy wants a takedown.

Bird clinches but Hardy breaks the clinch and Hardy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bird tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hardy counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bird misses with a body punch.
Bird wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Hardy has Bird pressed against the cage, preventing Bird from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Bird is trying to drag Hardy to the mat but Hardy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Hardy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bird.
Harrison Hardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Bird. Bird looks gassed! Bird looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Bird has Hardy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hardy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hardy is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hardy working over Bird with some ground and pound. Bird looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hardy in particular looking to stall. Hardy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bird keeps working. Hardy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Hardy trying to pass the guard but Bird defending well. Hardy winds up and cracks Bird with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Hardy trying to control from half guard but Bird is working away.

Hardy frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Hardy trying to control but Bird is having none of it. Hardy goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bird turns into him and now he's in Hardy's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hardy is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bird accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hardy is controlling Bird's posture. Bird throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hardy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hardy looking for a sweep. Not yet Hardy, not yet. Harrison Hardy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hardy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hardy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Bird wants to improve his position but instead Hardy has moved into half guard.

Hardy is thwarting Bird's attempts to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bird wants to improve his position but Hardy is controlling well.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hardy punishes Bird's body with a nice straight punch.
