Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paulo Paco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Martin! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paco tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martin swats him away and circles back towards the center. Paco misses with a takedown attempt - Martin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Martin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Paco sees it coming and avoids it easily. Paco misses with the combination.
Martin missing with a left hand there. Paco was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Martin throws a shot to the body.
Martin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Martin lands a lovely overhand right. Paco misses with a jab, cross combination.
Martin throws out a powerful jab. Martin throws a body punch but Paco moves out of range. Martin scores with a one two! Paco had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Paco is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Martin lands a really nice looking cross but Paco seems unphased.
Oh Paco is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Paco is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Paco seems to have got his legs back now. Paco tries to close the distance and clinch but Martin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin throws a shot from downtown. Paco moves away and avoids it. Paco takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Martin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paco was well out of range. Poor timing from Martin. Paco tries to clinch up but Martin circles away and keeps his distance. A swing and a miss from Martin. Paco moves into the clinch successfully.
Martin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Paco walks away with a smile on his face. Martin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Martin scores with a jab. Paco acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Martin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Paulo Paco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Martin sends Paco crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Martin is motioning to the referee to let Paco up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Martin just misses with a punch to the body.
Paco fails in his attempt to clinch. Paco tries to clinch up but Martin circles away and keeps his distance. Paco looks up at the clock. Bad move! Martin lands a right hand from hell, dropping Paco. Martin pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryan Martin!
