Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Eerts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bas Eerts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.

Mir tries to keep at a distance but Eerts has taken the fight into the clinch. Mir goes for a takedown in the clinch but Eerts prevents it.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Mir jumps guard and drags Eerts to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mir had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eerts defends it easily. Eerts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mir on the ground.
Mir is working an open guard so Eerts takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Eerts fails to land the takedown. Eerts doesn't manage to clinch there - Mir circles away.
Eerts shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Eerts showed some decent athleticism there. Mir is trying to control but can't.
Mir wants to improve his position but Eerts is controlling well.
Eerts throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Eerts wants to stand up but Mir has a hold of him and won't allow it. Mir blocking the ground and pound attempt from Eerts. Eerts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mir is looking for a sweep. Eerts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fight moves into the clinch position. Eerts jumps guard but Mir stands there with Eerts around his waist. Eerts gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bas Eerts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Eerts has had enough of the clinch but Mir keeps him there for the moment.
Eerts ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Eerts no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Eerts wants to stand but Mir is controlling the position. Mir slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

I looks like Mir might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eerts has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eerts is breathing heavily. Eerts is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mir is controlling him. Mir controlling from the top position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mir pushing down on Eerts's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Mir working the head and body with strikes. Eerts is being controlled here. Mir lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Mir's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Mir landing a few strikes. Mir taking a breather here.

![](https://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/refstandup.gif) Despite being in the dominant position, Frank Mir just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mir moves out of range as Eerts strikes. Eerts swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mir staying out of range there. Eerts lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mir circles away quickly and effectively. Eerts throws a big shot that misses. Eerts tries to clinch but Mir moves out of range. Eerts slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Mir looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Mir passes into half guard. Eerts tries to kick Mir off in order to stand up. Mir Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Eerts is being controlled here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Mir dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mir is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Eerts's half guard. Mir performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Eerts is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mir pulls his head out easily. Eerts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mir is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Eerts has managed to free his arm - good work.

Mir has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Eerts is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mir yanks on the arm and Eerts is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mir.
