PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kileki Kawike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenzo Nakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawike comes to the cage accompanied by Anthrax w/ Public Enemy - Bring the Noise. On his way into the cage it seems that Kileki Kawike has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kileki Kawike seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kileki Kawike!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kenzo Nakata!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kawike.
Kawike lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kawike just content to control the position.
An elbow from Kawike crashes against the mat.
Nakata manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Kawike is looking for a sweep. Nakata is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kawike is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nakata is aware though and is defending well.

Nakata postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kawike is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nakata, into his guard.

Nakata is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kawike pulls his head out easily.

Kawike wanted to stand there but Nakata had control of the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Nakata is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Kawike with that takedown attempt.
Kawike shoots in looking for a takedown. Nakata tries to sprawl out of it but Kawike keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nakata manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nakata comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Nakata stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nakata wants it to stay on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kawike takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Nakata shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nakata was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kenzo Nakata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nakata drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kawike dives on top into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nakata is working an open guard so Kawike takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kawike feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kileki Kawike.
I think Kawike has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
