Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Manel Pimpolho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Byron Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk has chosen Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World as his entrance music. Byron Monk is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Byron Monk! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monk is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pimpolho's half guard. Monk is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pimpolho defends it well. Pimpolho is looking to improve his position.
Monk is working for a submission of some sort.
Monk is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Pimpolho has managed to free his arm - good work. Pimpolho is looking to control Monk's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pimpolho avoid being mounted? Pimpolho is trying to stand up here but Monk is controlling him well. Monk is working for a kimura but Pimpolho is defending it quite comfortably.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pimpolho regains full guard. Nicely done. Monk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pimpolho swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pimpolho lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Monk! Monk keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Pimpolho with a couple of short strikes. Pimpolho can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Monk is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monk in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Monk is working to get back to half guard.
Monk is squirming around, avoiding Pimpolho's attempts to control the action. Pimpolho knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Monk on the ground. Monk is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Pimpolho. Monk is looking to get to half guard. Monk looks gassed! Pimpolho trying to control but Monk is having none of it. Pimpolho looking to secure an arm triangle but Monk defends it well. Monk sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Monk moves into full guard.
Monk wants to sweep here but Pimpolho controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Monk keeping moving, preventing Pimpolho from controlling successfully. Monk wants to sweep but no luck. Monk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pimpolho's guard. Monk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pimpolho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Monk, into his guard. Monk looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Byron Monk dominated that round. That's time! Pimpolho's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Monk tries to clinch but Pimpolho is having none of it. Pimpolho wants to clinch up but Monk keeps it at a distance. Pimpolho avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Monk as Pimpolho shoots in. Pimpolho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Monk swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pimpolho doesn't succeed with the takedown and Monk counters with a left and a right that stings Pimpolho. Monk doesn't succeed with the takedown and Pimpolho counters with a big head kick but Monk shrugs it off. Monk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pimpolho is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Pimpolho wanted to stand there but Monk had control of the position. Pimpolho trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pimpolho missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Monk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pimpolho is trying to stand.
Monk is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Monk is looking for a kimura but Pimpolho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Monk to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pimpolho makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pimpolho. Monk passes Pimpolho's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Monk prevents Pimpolho from improving his position. Monk is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pimpolho tries to kick Monk off but Monk keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Monk is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pimpolho wants to control but Monk is keeping busy and won't allow it. Monk wants to work for an arm triangle but Pimpolho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Monk wants to pass to mount but Pimpolho is defending the position. Pimpolho is trying to get back to full guard.
