The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filipovic fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pereira sprawls well initially but Filipovic persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Filipovic looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Filipovic prevents Pereira from improving his position.
Pereira has one foot on Filipovic's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Pereira scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pereira in side control lands a decent elbow.
Filipovic takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pereira tries for a kimura but Filipovic is defending well.
Pereira decides to stand back up. Pereira steps back and let's Filipovic get back to his feet.
Pereira closes the distance looking for a takedown. Filipovic stuffs it but Pereira still has hold of him. Pereira picks Filipovic up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Pereira slams Filipovic to the floor and that's really hurt Filipovic - he doesn't know where he is! Pereira throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ulysses Pereira!
