Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Arlovski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei Arlovski looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrei Arlovski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arlovski fails with an attempt to clinch.
Andrei Arlovski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mir leaves Arlovski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mir gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Arlovski counters with a good low kick that Mir was not able to check. Mir looks gassed! Arlovski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Arlovski working a defensive guard here.
Mir wants to control from the top but Arlovski keeps moving. Arlovski has control of Mir's left arm, preventing Mir from doing any damage. Mir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arlovski working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mir. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Arlovski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mir is aware though and is defending well. Mir pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Arlovski is keeping the position for now. Arlovski is trying to keep Mir in close.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mir is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Arlovski's half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Arlovski actively working from the bottom here. Mir seems to be looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir is trying to work for a kimura but Arlovski is defending well.
Arlovski wants to control but Mir is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mir is stalling here. Arlovski is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mir seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Arlovski has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Arlovski tries to move to mount but Mir blocks the move with his legs. Arlovski advances to full mount. Arlovski trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mir tries to hold on but Arlovski pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mir is desperately trying to improve his position but Arlovski has a good base and remains in mount. Arlovski looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Mir wants to control but Arlovski is having none of it. Arlovski trying to control but he's not successful this time. Arlovski is in the full mount, landing strikes. Arlovski sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Mir sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Mir dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Arlovski shoots and misses and Mir counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mir looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Arlovski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mir working over Arlovski with some ground and pound. Arlovski looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Arlovski wants to control but Mir is keeping busy.
Mir is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Arlovski sees it coming and defends easily. Arlovski trying to hold on to Mir's head to control him but Mir postures up.
Arlovski gets full guard. Mir slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Arlovski tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Arlovski is working to get back to half guard.
Mir swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Arlovski is now in Mir's guard. A big mistake from Mir there, giving up the dominant position!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Arlovski wants to stand but Mir is controlling his posture from full guard. Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Arlovski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Mir looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mir working for a triangle but Arlovski defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Arlovski manages to get himself to full guard.
Arlovski keeping moving, preventing Mir from controlling successfully. Mir stopping the sweep attempt from Arlovski. Arlovski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mir trying to control but Arlovski is working from the bottom. Arlovski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mir is controlling him. Mir forces his way into half guard. Arlovski is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Mir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Mir with a poor takedown and Arlovski counters with a big head kick but Mir shrugs it off. Mir takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Mir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Arlovski circles away. Arlovski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Arlovski lands in his opponent's guard. Arlovski tries to stand but Mir is controlling from the bottom. Arlovski landing with the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Arlovski tries to free his leg and advance position but Mir is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arlovski wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving. Arlovski looking to pass the guard. Arlovski wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Arlovski with a poor takedown and Mir counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir is looking for a kimura but Arlovski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mir to get the leverage. Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Arlovski is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Arlovski is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Arlovski is trying to stand up here but Mir is controlling him well. Mir is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arlovski is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Mir jumps into side control! Arlovski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Arlovski trying to hold on to Mir's head to control him but Mir postures up.
Mir tries to stand but can't do so whilst Arlovski controls his leg. Mir trying to control the action but Arlovski is working from the bottom. Arlovski strikes from the bottom but Mir uses the opportunity to move to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mir misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mir working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Arlovski, who protects the arm well. Arlovski is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
And that's the end of the fight! Frank Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Mir winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
