Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ganja Amsterdam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, renzo Hughes! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amsterdam gets a clinch. Hughes tries to circle away but Amsterdam has him pinned against the cage. Hughes tries to break the clinch but Amsterdam is controlling the position. Hughes manages to pull guard.
Hughes throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hughes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Amsterdam's guard. Amsterdam keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully. Hughes throwing strikes but missing. Amsterdam is trying to control the position but Hughes postures up. Hughes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Amsterdam avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hughes has gone for a leg lock! Amsterdam slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hughes's guard. Amsterdam got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hughes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Amsterdam has managed to get both his arms back between Hughes's legs - danger averted. Hughes working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hughes has his foot on Amsterdam's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Amsterdam works his way back into a safe position though. Amsterdam has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hughes looking for a guillotine here but Amsterdam defends easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hughes throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes has an active guard here but Amsterdam has managed to pass into half guard.
Hughes is looking for a sweep. Amsterdam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Amsterdam wants to take a breather but Hughes is having none of it. Hughes trying to hold on to Amsterdam's head to control him but Amsterdam postures up.
Hughes is trying to get back to full guard. Amsterdam seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

renzo Hughes dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hughes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Amsterdam swivels and escapes. Hughes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hughes sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hughes is looking for a kimura here.
Amsterdam preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. The fighters are battling for position here. Amsterdam manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hughes slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Hughes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amsterdam stops Hughes from passing to mount. Amsterdam manages to get back to half guard. Hughes not landing any meaningful shots this time. Hughes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hughes is breathing heavily. Amsterdam trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hughes misses with a head shot. Amsterdam uses the momentum to regain guard. Hughes throws and elbow that misses. Amsterdam uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hughes's guard. Nice move by Amsterdam! Hughes keeping moving, preventing Amsterdam from controlling successfully. Amsterdam missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hughes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Amsterdam doesn't defend quickly enough and Hughes has managed to lock this one up! Can Amsterdam escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hughes on a fantastic submission victory.
