PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sid Kruss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and ABC DEF (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DEF has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. ABC DEF is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DEF misses with a series of wild punches.
DEF looks gassed!
DEF moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


DEF is rocked!
Kruss steps to the side to avoid the strikes from DEF.
DEF is still on wobbly legs! Can Kruss finish him?
A punch combination from Kruss misses.
DEF seems to have recovered his senses.
Nice sprawl there from Kruss as DEF shoots in.
Kruss closes this distance looking for a takedown but DEF circles away.

Kruss cracks DEF with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kruss looking to control but DEF is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
DEF is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

DEF rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kruss moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kruss closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kruss looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kruss has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
DEF missing with punches from the bottom.
Kruss is keen to just control but DEF is a slippery customer.
DEF pushes Kruss off but Kruss dives into side control.
DEF wants to get back to his feet.
DEF is letting Kruss control him for a moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DEF tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kruss wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
DEF sneaks back into half guard.

DEF is staying active underneath Kruss, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
DEF blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kruss.
Kruss perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kruss throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
DEF is looking to get back to full guard here but Kruss has managed to pass to side control instead.

Kruss has hold of DEF's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and DEF manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kruss is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, DEF has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kruss takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Sid Kruss just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Sid Kruss overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kruss is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but DEF is surviving well by controlling Kruss's body position as best he can.

DEF wants to control but Kruss is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
DEF is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
DEF tries to reverse the position but Kruss maintains control.

Kruss cracks DEF with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Kruss jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but DEF manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Kruss decides to stand back up. Kruss steps back and let's DEF get back to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Kruss bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

DEF takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

DEF manages to escape and get back to his feet!

DEF tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
DEF on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Kruss doesn't manage to clinch there - DEF circles away.
DEF will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

DEF stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sid Kruss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

DEF throws a series of punches but Kruss avoids them all with ease.

Kruss throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around DEF's waist but DEF gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kruss off to one side.

DEF scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
DEF lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
DEF avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DEF swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Kruss counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
DEF keeping moving, preventing Kruss from controlling successfully.

DEF has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kruss off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
DEF misses with a combination

and Kruss counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
DEF wants to stand but Kruss is controlling the position.
Kruss wants to control from the top but DEF keeps moving.
Kruss has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kruss is tying to control. DEF wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kruss is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kruss is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that DEF can do to turn this around?

Well Kruss has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
