Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jian Lieu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kurt pike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). kurt pike has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jian Lieu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, kurt pike!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lieu tries to clinch up but pike circles away and keeps his distance.
Lieu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but pike swivels and escapes.
Lieu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lieu throws a head kick but pike moves out of range.
Lieu tries to bum rush pike with a series of wild strikes but pike uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
pike misses with a hook. Lieu ducked under it nicely.
pike scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
pike throwing shots but missing, from side control.
pike content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
pike is looking to take a break and control but Lieu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
pike tries to advance to mount but Lieu denies him.

Lieu gets back to half guard.
Lieu is pressing down on pike's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lieu is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
pike wants to pass the guard but Lieu is keeping the position.
Lieu trying to keep a closed guard but pike is proving a slippery customer.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lieu doesn't succeed with the takedown
and pike counters with a shoot takedown. Lieu fights it but they end up in guard.

Lieu is looking for a triangle but pike pushes his legs off easily.

pike really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lieu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

pike takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lieu is trying to get back to full guard.
pike wants to take a breather but Lieu is having none of it.

That's time! Lieu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

pike is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
pike is keen to just control but Lieu is a slippery customer.
pike trying to mount his opponent but Lieu defends it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lieu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from pike.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
pike moves into full mount! Lieu won't be happy about that!

pike tries to control but Lieu wriggling away.
Lieu regains half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lieu manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
pike wanted to stand there but Lieu had control of the position.
Lieu looking for a triangle here. pike is fighting it but it looks tight! Lieu pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, pike is tapping out - this one is all over!
