Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthews has chosen Bleed It Out as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Vincent Matthews has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kai Ho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ho fails with an attempt to clinch.

Matthews clinches.
The referee calls for Matthews to work.
Ho takes a knee to the side of the body.
Ho is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Matthews gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Matthews connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Kai Ho has been cut.
Ho wants to break the clinch but can't.

Matthews breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Matthews missing with a left hand there. Ho was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ho tries to close the distance and clinch but Matthews swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Matthews looks for a takedown but Ho sprawls well.
Vincent Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ho tries to clinch up but Matthews circles away and keeps his distance.
Ho goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ho stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ho wants it to stay on the feet.

Ho moves into the clinch.
Ho throws a head punch that misses.
Matthews stalls.

Matthews's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A left and a right from Ho both land. Nice combination.
Ho misses with a wild combination.
Matthews stuffs the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ho throws a series of strikes that have Matthews backpedaling.
Ho wants to clinch

and Matthews counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ho tries to circle away but Matthews has him pinned against the cage.
Ho tries to break the clinch but Matthews is controlling the position.
Ho wants to break free but Matthews has control.
Ho drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Ho. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Matthews creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ho's defenses.

Matthews breaks from the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ho looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ho fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ho fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Matthews looks gassed!
Ho lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Matthews circles away quickly and effectively.
Ho shoots in and drives through. Matthews sprawls well.
Ho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Matthews needs to keep his hands up - Ho had a free shot at his head there.
Ho jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Matthews throws a head kick that misses.
Matthews is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ho sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Ho tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Matthews paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ho throws a right hand that Matthews ducks under and follows up with a left that Matthews also avoids with ease.
Matthews connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Matthews misses with a combination
and Ho counters with a straight right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ho doesn't manage to clinch there - Matthews circles away.

Ho darts in and clinches Matthews up against the cage.
Ho wants to break free but Matthews has control.
Ho is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Matthews pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ho goes for a takedown in the clinch but Matthews prevents it.
Ho is trying to break the clinch but Matthews is controlling him.

Ho softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Ho wants to break the clinch but can't.
Ho wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ho wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matthews has him pressed against the cage.
Matthews keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ho's efforts to push away.

Matthews escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ho scores with a three punch combo!
Matthews circles away from the clinch attempt
and Matthews counters with a head kick.
Ho connects with a nice looking jab.
Matthews slips a jab and a cross from Ho.
Ho tries to clinch up.
Ho scores with a hook to the body. Matthews takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Ho lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Ho closes the distance and pushes Matthews back into the cage.
Ho stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Matthews keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ho's efforts to push away.
Ho can't find room to land a body shot as Matthews controls the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ho has clasped his hands together around Matthews's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Ho has hold of Matthews's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Matthews seems comfortable defending it but Ho has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Matthews is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Matthews is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ho couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kai Ho!
