Kroener is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eisblume - Eisblumen. Rudy Gay Rodriguez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gay Rodriguez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kroener throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Gay Rodriguez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kroener some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gay Rodriguez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kroener to his feet.
Gay Rodriguez looks for a takedown but Kroener sprawls well.

so Gay Rodriguez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Kroener escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gay Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gay Rodriguez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gay Rodriguez has an Americana. Kroener didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gay Rodriguez is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gay Rodriguez hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
