PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kain Veldspar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sascha Kroener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kroener has chosen Eisblume - Eisblumen as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kain Veldspar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sascha Kroener!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kroener stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kroener wants it to stay on the feet.
Kroener shoots and misses

and Veldspar counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kroener wants to get back to his feet.

Kroener looking for submissions off his back.

Veldspar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kroener doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Veldspar.
Veldspar wants to advance to full mount but Kroener doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kroener bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kroener content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Kroener might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Veldspar kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kroener is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Veldspar has escaped the position, nice work there.

Veldspar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kroener is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Veldspar moves into full mount! Kroener won't be happy about that!
Kroener is trying desperately to improve position.

BOOM! Veldspar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kroener is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kroener is looking to improve his position but Veldspar isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Veldspar looking for a guillotine from mount but Kroener is having none of it.
Kroener tries to lock up and control but Veldspar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Veldspar jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kroener manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kroener is trying to control Veldspar's posture but Veldspar avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veldspar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kroener counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Veldspar wants to control but Kroener passes easily into half guard.
Kroener content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Kroener stands and throws Veldspar's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kroener is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Veldspar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kroener decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Veldspar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kroener did well to prevent Veldspar getting side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kroener shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kroener can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Veldspar is looking to escape.

Sascha Kroener showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
