PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paolo Franchesco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Crate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chris Crate was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crate shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Chris Crate has been cut.
Crate fails with an attempt to clinch.

Crate shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Franchesco is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Franchesco is working hard here to advance position.

Franchesco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Franchesco drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Crate dives on top into guard.

Crate swings around for an armbar but Franchesco sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Crate's guard.

Franchesco lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Crate circles away quickly and effectively.

Crate is looking to clinch but Franchesco is avoiding it.

Franchesco is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Crate is nestled in close to Franchesco, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Crate looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Franchesco with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Franchesco moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
