And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spinowitz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Severn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Severn fails with a takedown attempt.
Severn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Spinowitz sprawls well. Spinowitz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Severn gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spinowitz is squirming around, avoiding Severn's attempts to control the action.
Severn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Severn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Spinowitz manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Severn tries to get to his feet but Spinowitz is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Severn in his guard.
Severn's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Dan Severn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Severn misses with a takedown attempt

and Spinowitz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Severn's guard.
Severn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spinowitz manages to get himself to full guard.
Severn wants to pass the guard but Spinowitz is keeping the position.
Spinowitz keeping moving, preventing Severn from controlling successfully.
Severn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spinowitz is keeping the position for now.

Severn is fighting to break Spinowitz's control of his arms but Spinowitz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
