Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Beam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jones! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones shoots for a takedown but Beam saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Beam.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones closes the distance and pushes Beam back into the cage. Beam breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jim Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beam moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Jones is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Beam is defending well for now. Beam's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Beam drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch. Beam working Jones over with knees to the body. A nice glancing elbow lands by Jones. Beam has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment. Beam pushes Jones back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Beam decides to pull guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Beam keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beam is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones wants to control from the top but Beam keeps moving. Beam wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Beam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones stops Beam from standing up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Beam tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch. Beam prevents a body shot from Jones. Beam manages to break the clinch.

A right-left combo lands from Jones. Jones closes the distance and pushes Beam back into the cage. Beam prevents the takedown attempt.

Jim Beam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Jones. Beam tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Beam drops back down to his feet.

Beam is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Beam keeps the fight on the outside. Jones closes the distance but Beam moves to the side and Beam counters with a body kick that stops Jones in his tracks momentarily. Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Beam sees coming a mile off. Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Beam pinned against the cage. Beam gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jones throws a right hand that Beam ducks under and follows up with a left that Beam also avoids with ease. Beam closes the distance but Jones moves to the side and Jones counters with a two punch combo. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Jones looks to clinch and Beam counters with a good, hard body kick but Jones shrugs it off. Beam will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Beam shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beam showed some decent athleticism there. Beam wants to stand up but Jones has a hold of him and won't allow it. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Beam is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beam.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is looking to control Beam's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted? Beam throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Beam tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Beam looks to land a strike but Jones avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Jones wriggles free and stands up. Beam tries to clinch but fails miserably and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Beam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Beam wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Beam pushes Jones off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beam stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Beam. Beam gets slowly back to his feet. Jones moves into the clinch. Beam lands on the inside with an uppercut. Beam landing knees to the head.

Beam throws a sloppy head kick and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones. Beam has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Beam is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Beam has escaped and now he's on top! Beam wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Beam working some strikes from top position. Beam decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but James Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Beam tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a stiff right hand. Beam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beam off to one side. Beam fails with the takedown and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Beam. That's going to take a lot out of him. Beam is looking to escape. Beam is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jones works his way into side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Beam pushes Jones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beam tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Beam is looking to escape. Beam is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones landing punches. Jones cracks Beam with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jones jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Beam is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Beam and Jones has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Beam defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beam covering up well under a barage of strikes. That's four minutes gone in the round. Beam holding both Jones 's hands and preventing any damage. James Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! James Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
