PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marquise Mambosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rami Stereo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mambosa comes to the cage accompanied by O Fortuna. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rami Stereo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marquise Mambosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rami Stereo!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stereo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Stereo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mambosa's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mambosa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stereo not doing much here.
Stereo thows a huge punch but Mambosa dodges it nicely.
Stereo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Stereo wants to take a breather but Mambosa is having none of it.

Stereo slows the pace down in half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Stereo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Mambosa is trying to maintain the position but Stereo is very close to passing his half guard.
Stereo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Mambosa is looking for a sweep. Stereo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Stereo is taking a breather. Mambosa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Stereo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stereo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Stereo seems keen to control Mambosa's posture.
Let's hope that Stereo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Mambosa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stereo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Stereo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rami Stereo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mambosa is staying active underneath Stereo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rami Stereo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Mambosa doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stereo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mambosa's guard.

Stereo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mambosa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mambosa has his foot on Stereo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stereo works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mambosa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stereo lands a nice shot that snaps Mambosa's head back.
Marquise Mambosa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mambosa misses with a wild body shot.
Stereo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Stereo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mambosa napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Stereo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rami Stereo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rami Stereo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stereo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
