Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Son Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnnie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Son Nguyen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnnie Walker!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker misses with a takedown attempt - Nguyen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nguyen.

Nguyen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nguyen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nguyen tries for a kimura but Walker is defending well.

Nguyen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Nguyen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Walker knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Walker tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Walker is looking to regain half guard here but Nguyen keeps moving and retains side control.

Walker kicks Nguyen off and gets back to his feet.

Walker throws a low kick, looking for Nguyen's leg but Nguyen calmly moves out of range.

and Nguyen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Walker is trying to control the position but Nguyen postures up.
Walker pulls Nguyen in to control the position.

Nguyen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Walker pushes Nguyen off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Nguyen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Walker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Walker.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nguyen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nguyen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Nguyen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Walker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Son Nguyen dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Walker doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nguyen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Walker's guard now.
Walker can't keep his opponent in guard - Nguyen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nguyen is looking for a kimura but Walker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nguyen to get the leverage.

Nguyen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Nguyen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Walker tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nguyen!
