Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brett Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dog Shagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Dog Shagger enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Russell is looking to clinch. Russell shoots in for a double leg but Shagger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Shagger feints and then cracks Russell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Russell down. Nice takedown defense from Shagger. No joy for Russell on that attempt. Shagger looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shagger stands up and beckons Russell to join him on the feet. Shagger should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Russell swinging wilding here.
Russell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Russell misses with a takedown and Shagger counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shagger throws a front kick that sends Russell stumbling back into the cage. Russell is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shagger clinches with his opponent.
Shagger working hard to break the clinch. Russell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shagger throws a leg kick that misses. Shagger scores with the left hand. Russell knows he should have avoided that one. Russell is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Shagger. Shagger tries to clinch up. Shagger closes the distance and clinches. Shagger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shagger tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Russell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Russell tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shagger holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Russell jumps guard but Shagger stands there with Russell around his waist. Russell gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shagger effectively controlling the action here. Russell is trying to break free. Shagger pressing his opponent against the cage. Shagger wants to break the clinch but can't.

Shagger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Shagger misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Russell misses with a takedown attempt and Shagger holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Shagger is trying to break free. Russell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shagger smiles and moves away.
Shagger tries to clinch but Russell moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Russell shoots and misses and Shagger moves into the clinch. Shagger breaks from the clinch.
Shagger looks to land a combination but Russell avoids it well. Russell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shagger counters with an outside leg kick.
Russell doesn't succeed with the takedown and Shagger cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Russell throws a head kick that half lands.
Shagger rushes Russell and presses him up against the cage. Russell stalling against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shagger is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Russell gets control of Shagger's arms and successfully pulls guard. Russell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Russell is trying to control the position but Shagger postures up. Russell working a defensive guard but Shagger manages to pass into side control anyway.
Russell tries to bench press Shagger off him but Shagger keeps the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Russell is trying to work for a sweep but Shagger has mounted him! Shagger avoids the attempt from Russell to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dog Shagger dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
An inside leg kick from Shagger misses. Russell misses with a takedown and Shagger finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Russell clinches up against the cage. Russell manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Shagger gets to his feet. Russell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Shagger avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shagger takes a body punch but keeps moving. Russell misses with a takedown attempt and Shagger makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. A clash of legs there as Russell blocks the low kick. Russell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shagger is trying to stand up here but Russell is controlling him well. Russell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Shagger kicks Russell off and gets back to his feet. Russell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shagger but Shagger pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shagger lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shagger throws a series of punches but Russell avoids them all with ease. Russell closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Russell misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Russell is trying to move to mount but Shagger reverses beautifully and ends up in Russell's guard. Shagger decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Russell, up you get!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shagger clinches. Shagger has had enough of the clinch but Russell keeps him there for the moment. Russell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Russell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shagger sprawls well initially but Russell persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Russell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Russell wants to advance to full mount but Shagger doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Russell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shagger scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shagger scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Russell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shagger to the mat! Shagger manages to get full guard. Russell wants to control from the top but Shagger keeps moving. Russell stops Shagger from standing up. Russell looking to sit in guard and control but Shagger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Brett Russell will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Shagger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Russell. Shagger tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shagger tries to clinch up. Shagger throws a leg kick but Russell checks it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Shagger displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Russell. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shagger throws a leg kick but Russell checks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russell misses with a takedown attempt and Shagger counters with a thumping low kick. Shagger swinging wilding here.
Russell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shagger counters with a nice kick to the body. Russell tries to clinch but Shagger is having none of it. Shagger keeps the fight on the outside. Shagger throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shagger throws a head kick but Russell moves out of range.
Russell instigates a clinch. Russell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Russell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Russell seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Russell looks up at the clock and then as Shagger takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Russell smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Russell wants to take a breather but Shagger manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Russell. Russell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shagger's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shagger wants to stand up but Russell is controlling him. Russell wants to pass the guard but Shagger is keeping the position. Russell throws and elbow that misses. Shagger uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Russell's guard. Nice move by Shagger! Russell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Brett Russell overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Shagger prevents Russell from getting back to his feet. Russell is looking for a triangle here but Shagger uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Shagger decides to stand up, so the ref orders Russell to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shagger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Dog Shagger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Shagger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
