PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Keenen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elias Hartley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Keenen !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elias Hartley!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Keenen forces Hartley back against the cage and clinches.
Hartley drops down looking for an ankle pick but Keenen pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hartley tries to clinch up
and Keenen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Keenen shoots in for a takedown but Hartley shows good takedown defense.

Keenen shoots in and bounces Hartley off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hartley controls Keenen momentarily but Keenen frees himself.
Keenen working some strikes from top position.
Keenen postures up.
Hartley throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Hartley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Keenen is one step ahead there.
Hartley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Keenen 's guard.

Keenen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hartley manages to get himself to full guard.

Hartley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Keenen pushes down on Hartley's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hartley moves into full guard.

Keenen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hartley, up you get!
Keenen throws a sloppy head kick and Hartley moves out of range easily.
Hartley throws a right hand that Keenen ducks under and follows up with a left that Keenen also avoids with ease.

and Keenen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Keenen .

Hartley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Keenen advances position into side control!
Hartley is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Keenen wants to control but Hartley is keeping him busy.

Keenen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hartley to see if he's OK.

Keenen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Keenen thuds his right hand into Hartley's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hartley is looking to clinch but Keenen is avoiding it.

Hartley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oh Keenen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Keenen shoots in but no luck this time.
Keenen seems to have got his legs back now.
Hartley tries to clinch but Keenen is having none of it.
Hartley fails in his attempt to clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hartley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Keenen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hartley tries a head kick but it misses.
Keenen shoots in and drives through. Hartley sprawls well.
Keenen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hartley lands with a kick to the temple. Keenen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Keenen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

and Hartley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hartley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hartley postures up in Keenen 's guard and throws a big left but Keenen blocks it.
Hartley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Keenen has control of Hartley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hartley regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Elias Hartley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Keenen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Keenen , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
