Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mats Madsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno R Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Madsen comes to the cage accompanied by Jedi Mind Tricks - Heavy Metal Kings. R Xavier is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bate Pesadão. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mats Madsen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruno R Xavier! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! R Xavier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Madsen sprawls well. Madsen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. R Xavier gets slowly back to his feet. Madsen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Madsen showed some decent athleticism there. Madsen slows the pace down in half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Madsen connects with a nice short shot to R Xavier's temple. Madsen working the head and body with strikes. Madsen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. R Xavier throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Madsen throws a strike but R Xavier avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Madsen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. R Xavier working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Madsen. Madsen throwing strikes but missing. Madsen is looking to work some ground and pound but R Xavier has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madsen trying to control the position from guard on top but R Xavier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Madsen scoring with some ground and pound. Madsen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Madsen lands a couple of digs. Madsen wants to control from the top but R Xavier keeps moving. Madsen lands a couple of elbows. R Xavier working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Madsen. Madsen preventing the sweep. Madsen distracts R Xavier with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. R Xavier keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Madsen trying to control the action but R Xavier is working from the bottom. R Xavier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Madsen blocks the strikes from R Xavier.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Madsen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Madsen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Madsen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Madsen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed R Xavier's head. Madsen lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Madsen throwing shots but R Xavier is blocking nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. R Xavier is trying to control but can't.
Madsen is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. R Xavier avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Madsen. Madsen trying to control from R Xavier's half guard. R Xavier has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Madsen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. R Xavier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Madsen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Madsen throws a big right hand that misses. R Xavier throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Madsen darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. R Xavier fails with the takedown and Madsen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. R Xavier looks gassed! Madsen misses with the combination.
Madsen lands a jab to R Xavier's midsection. R Xavier tries to move into range but Madsen moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Madsen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Madsen throws a series of punches but R Xavier moves out of range. R Xavier misses with a takedown attempt and Madsen counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Mats Madsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno R Xavier. A combination from Madsen does no damage. R Xavier walks into a jab. R Xavier tries to clinch but fails miserably and Madsen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. R Xavier has his takedown stuffed and Madsen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. R Xavier takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mats Madsen dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
R Xavier doesn't succeed with the takedown and Madsen counters with a two punch combo. R Xavier tries to clinch but Madsen moves away and Madsen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. R Xavier clinches but Madsen breaks the clinch letting Madsen counter with a right hand. R Xavier tries for a takedown but Madsen circles away easily and Madsen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
R Xavier is rocked! R Xavier on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Madsen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Ground and pound from Madsen. Madsen seems to be working for a kimura but R Xavier defends the submission attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! R Xavier misses with some strikes from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madsen wants to control but R Xavier is keeping him busy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. R Xavier tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Madsen working the head and body with strikes. Madsen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mats Madsen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. R Xavier is looking to control Madsen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can R Xavier avoid being mounted? Madsen blocks the strikes from R Xavier.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Madsen misses with the combination.

R Xavier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Madsen but Madsen pushes him off and we're back to square one. R Xavier is trying desperately to land a takedown but Madsen is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for R Xavier.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from R Xavier. Nice jab there from Madsen. R Xavier has his takedown stuffed enabling Madsen to counter with a crisp jab. R Xavier clinches but Madsen breaks the clinch enabling Madsen to counter with a crisp jab. The fighters circle momentarily. Madsen darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Madsen looks to land a combination but R Xavier avoids it well. R Xavier with a poor takedown and R Xavier takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. R Xavier fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Madsen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

R Xavier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Good shot there by Madsen. R Xavier wants to clinch and Madsen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mats Madsen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. R Xavier misses with a takedown and Madsen counters with a takedown into side control. Madsen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Check out the look on Madsen's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Madsen lands a nice shot that snaps R Xavier's head back.
R Xavier fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Madsen works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Madsen throws a right and a left that both miss. Mats Madsen is winning the standup battle so far. Madsen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in R Xavier's half guard. R Xavier shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Madsen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Madsen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

R Xavier shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Madsen's guard. Madsen trying to control the position here. Madsen keeping moving, preventing R Xavier from controlling successfully. Both fighters are breathing heavily. R Xavier postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Madsen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of R Xavier, into his guard. Madsen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of R Xavier's head.

Madsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but R Xavier does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. R Xavier wants to clinch up but Madsen keeps it at a distance. R Xavier misses with a takedown attempt - Madsen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Madsen throws out a powerful jab. Mats Madsen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. R Xavier has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. R Xavier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Madsen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Madsen lands a nice shot to the head. Madsen trying to control but he's not successful this time. R Xavier can't escape the position.
Madsen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Madsen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Madsen blocks R Xavier's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Mats Madsen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Madsen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
