Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome McCool! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cat McHatt! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCool throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McCool tries to score a power double leg takedown but McHatt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McCool somewhat. McHatt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McCool was covering up waiting for the punch and McHatt finishes the takedown easily into guard. McHatt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McCool keeping full guard, as McHatt tries to pass. McHatt advances position into side control! McHatt lands a nice forearm strike. McHatt swings around for an armbar but McCool sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McHatt's guard. McCool is fighting to break McHatt's control of his arms but McHatt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. McCool wants to stand but McHatt has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCool decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McHatt, up you get! McHatt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. McCool is trying to get back to full guard. McHatt is looking to take a break and control but McCool is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McCool is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McHatt is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McCool sees it coming and defends easily. McHatt tries to stand and escape but McCool is controlling the position. McCool is looking for a sweep. McHatt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. McHatt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McCool doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McHatt. McHatt prevents McCool from improving his position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McCool misses with a series of wild punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McCool is trying to maintain the position but McHatt is very close to passing his half guard. McHatt prevents McCool from improving his position. McHatt wants to take a breather but McCool is having none of it. McHatt tries to stand but can't do so whilst McCool controls his leg. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCool tries to get to full guard but McHatt has control of the leg. McHatt is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McCool makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! McCool gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McHatt holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. McCool looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerome McCool. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCool can't get the takedown.

McHatt manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. McHatt is working an open guard so McCool takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCool gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. McCool shoots for a double leg takedown but McHatt sprawls well. He's pushed McCool's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. McHatt darts in and clinches McCool up against the cage. McHatt tries to pull guard but McCool won't allow it.

McCool pushes down on McHatt's leg and manages to get into half guard. McCool not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McHatt blocking the ground and pound attempt from McCool. McHatt wants to get back to his feet.

McCool looking for a triangle here. McHatt is fighting it but it looks tight! McCool pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, McHatt is tapping out - this one is all over!
