Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cheeto Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Noel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noel has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Cheeto Ortiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Noel! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Noel looks gassed! Ortiz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Noel misses with a hook. Ortiz misses with a takedown attempt - Noel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ortiz tries for a takedown but Noel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cheeto Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ortiz shoots in and drives through. Noel sprawls well. Cheeto Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz fails with the takedown. Ortiz shoots in looking for a takedown. Noel tries to sprawl out of it but Ortiz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Noel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ortiz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Noel was covering up waiting for the punch and Ortiz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ortiz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ortiz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Ortiz throws a big right hand that misses. Ortiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Noel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ortiz stands up over Noel, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ortiz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Noel's head. Ortiz chips away with some ground and pound. Ortiz scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ortiz postures up in Noel's guard and throws a big left but Noel blocks it. Ortiz lands a couple of digs. Ortiz is looking to work some ground and pound but Noel has wrist control. Ortiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Noel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Noel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ortiz. Noel wants to stand up but Ortiz is controlling him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Noel can do anything to dispel that myth. Ortiz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ortiz wants to control from the top but Noel keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ortiz feints and as Noel raises his hands in defense, Ortiz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cheeto Ortiz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Ortiz shoots in but no luck this time. Ortiz fails with a takedown attempt. Ortiz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Noel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ortiz somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cheeto Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Noel is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ortiz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz is looking to work some ground and pound but Noel has wrist control. Ortiz landing some decent shots from guard. Noel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ortiz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ortiz with a flurry of punches that miss. Ortiz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ortiz with a nice head shot there. Ortiz works a leg free and moves into half guard. Noel won't allow Ortiz to pass to mount. Ortiz works his foot free and advances to mount. Ortiz lands a big shot there that rocks Noel but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ortiz raining down shots from the mount! Ortiz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ortiz working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. BOOM! Ortiz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ortiz landing shots from mount. Ortiz lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ortiz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ortiz breaks from Noel's wrist control and lands an elbow. Ortiz is landing with some decent strikes but Noel is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Noel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Noel in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Noel is rocked! Ortiz breaks from Noel's wrist control and lands an elbow. Noel is still in real trouble! Can Ortiz finish him? Ortiz with good strikes from the mount here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ortiz raining down shots from the mount! Ortiz lands a heavy elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cheeto Ortiz dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Nice takedown defense from Noel. No joy for Ortiz on that attempt. Noel seems to have recovered his senses. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown but Noel shows good takedown defense. Ortiz has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cheeto Ortiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Noel stuffs the takedown. Noel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ortiz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Noel's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Noel works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Noel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ortiz. Ortiz trying to control but Noel is working from the bottom. Ortiz sitting in guard here, content to control. Noel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ortiz postures up in Noel's guard and throws a big left but Noel blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ortiz forces his way into half guard. Ortiz throwing shots but Noel is blocking nicely. Ortiz thows a huge punch but Noel dodges it nicely.
Ortiz working Noel over with strikes. Ortiz is thwarting Noel's attempts to control the position. Ortiz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Noel defending well though. Ortiz working over Noel with some ground and pound. Noel looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Noel has hold of Ortiz's hands but Ortiz slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ortiz lands a nice short elbow. Ortiz drops an elbow to the side of Noel's head. Noel looks like he's trying to stand up.
Noel is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ortiz decides to stand and escape the position. Jay Noel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ortiz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Noel defends it nicely. Cheeto Ortiz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ortiz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ortiz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Noel sprawls well initially but Ortiz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Cheeto Ortiz showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ortiz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
