Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Dillon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Perunamuusi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Dillon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Perunamuusi! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dillon throws a body punch but Perunamuusi moves out of range. Perunamuusi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dillon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Perunamuusi somewhat. Perunamuusi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dillon's waist but Dillon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Perunamuusi off to one side. Some wild striking there from Dillon.
Dillon misses with the combination.
Dillon misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perunamuusi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dillon.
Perunamuusi ducks under a wild hook from Dillon. Nice takedown defense from Dillon. No joy for Perunamuusi on that attempt. Gabriel Dillon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Perunamuusi.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dillon lands a nice looking body shot.
Dillon throws a hook to the side of Perunamuusi's head but Perunamuusi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Perunamuusi blocks a jab. Dillon connects with a jab. Perunamuusi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dillon but Dillon pushes him off and we're back to square one. Dillon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Perunamuusi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Dillon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Perunamuusi is looking for a kimura here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perunamuusi trying to control from half guard but Dillon is working away. Perunamuusi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Perunamuusi prevents Dillon from standing back up.
Perunamuusi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Perunamuusi lands strikes from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perunamuusi trying to control from half guard but Dillon is working away. Dillon tries to roll over but Perunamuusi keeps him under control. Perunamuusi is looking to advance position but Dillon won't allow it. Ground and pound from Perunamuusi. Dillon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Perunamuusi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Perunamuusi stands up from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Perunamuusi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dillon sprawls well. Dillon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perunamuusi gets slowly back to his feet. Dillon jabbing away but nothing is landing. Perunamuusi slips a jab and a cross from Dillon.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Perunamuusi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Perunamuusi lands in his opponent's guard. Perunamuusi forces his way into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Perunamuusi dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dillon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Perunamuusi gets a takedown into half guard. Dillon pushes Perunamuusi off looking to stand but Perunamuusi dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Dillon wants to get back to full guard. Perunamuusi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dillon defends it well. Dillon wants to improve his position but Perunamuusi is controlling well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dillon trying to hold on to Perunamuusi's head to control him but Perunamuusi postures up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dillon throws a nice looking combination but Perunamuusi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Perunamuusi. Dillon misses with a hook. Perunamuusi ducked under it nicely. Perunamuusi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dillon but Dillon pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gabriel Dillon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dillon misses the shot to the body. Dillon misses with a body shot.
Dillon misses with a wild body shot. Dillon misses with a hook. Perunamuusi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dillon as he avoids it easily. Gabriel Dillon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Perunamuusi. No luck for Perunamuusi with that takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dillon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Perunamuusi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dillon sprawls well. Dillon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perunamuusi gets slowly back to his feet. Perunamuusi avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gabriel Dillon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dillon misses with a double jab.
Gabriel Dillon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perunamuusi looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dillon! Dillon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Perunamuusi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dillon is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perunamuusi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dillon is now in Perunamuusi's guard. A big mistake from Perunamuusi there, giving up the dominant position! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dillon has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Perunamuusi to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Dillon is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Perunamuusi pulls down on the head and he's put Dillon to sleep! This one is all over!
