Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill comes into the arena with target=blank>'her lil Warrior' blaring out of the sound system. Cain Liddell is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Hill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cain Liddell! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hill closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hill breaks the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Liddell. Hill thuds a left hand into Liddell's body. Hill moves in looking to clinch but Liddell pushes him off. Hill drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hill trying to control but Liddell is working from the bottom. Liddell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hill is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hill throws a strike but Liddell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Liddell preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Liddell is fighting to break Hill's control of his arms but Hill is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Hill looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Hill is trying to control the position but Liddell postures up. Liddell trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Liddell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Liddell doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hill counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Hill landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Hill tightens his grip and picks Liddell up, before dumping him to the ground. Liddell manages to land in guard. Hill wants to pass the guard but Liddell is keeping the position. Hill is breathing heavily. Liddell trying to control the position here. Liddell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hill thows a big elbow that misses. Liddell working for a triangle but Hill defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hill throwing strikes from guard but Liddell blocks nicely. Liddell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hill's guard. Liddell stopping the sweep attempt from Hill. Liddell sitting in guard here, content to control. Hill looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hill can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Liddell controls the pace. I looks like Liddell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Hill is trying to control the position but Liddell postures up. Hill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Liddell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Liddell postures up in Hill's guard and throws a big left but Hill blocks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chris Hill will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Liddell shoots and misses and Hill counters with a takedown into side control. Liddell wants to control but Hill postures up. Hill wants to control but Liddell is keeping him busy. A lull in the action here as Hill stalls from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hill working away. Hill wants to stand but Liddell is controlling his arm. Liddell manages to get back to half guard. Hill knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Liddell on the ground. The fighters are battling for position here. Liddell manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Liddell is trying to keep Hill in close.
Liddell pulls Hill in close to his closed guard and prevents Hill from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Liddell is on top in guard.
Liddell's corner is telling him to maintain position. Liddell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Liddell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Liddell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Liddell connects with a couple of short punches. Hill avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Liddell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hill tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cain Liddell has got the better of the ground game so far. Hill is trying to control the position but Liddell postures up. Liddell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hill looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Liddell controlling from the top position.
Despite being in the dominant position, Cain Liddell just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Liddell misses with a two punch combination.
Hill fails in his attempt to clinch. Hill displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Liddell. Liddell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Liddell misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Liddell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hill is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hill is looking for a sweep. Liddell has an Americana. Hill didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Liddell is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Liddell hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Cain Liddell!
