PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jet Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Foreman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jet Cao!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cao shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Foreman trying to hold on to Cao's head to control him but Cao postures up.
Foreman won't allow Cao to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cao passes into side control, despite Foreman's attempt to control the position.
Foreman wants to get back to his feet but Cao drags him back down.
Foreman struggling a bit here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foreman dodges the ground and pound from Cao.
Cao trying to control the action but Foreman is working from the bottom.
Cao working the ground and pound but Foreman is defending the strikes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Foreman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cao counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Cao wants to control from the top but Foreman keeps moving.

Cao slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cao controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Cao wanted to stand there but Foreman had control of the position.
Cao in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Foreman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Cao has managed to clinch.

Cao breaks the clinch.
Foreman throws a looping overhand right but Cao ducks down to avoid it.

Cao looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Foreman gets back to full guard.
Foreman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Cao dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Foreman darts in trying to clinch

and Cao counters by moving into the clinch.
Foreman is pushing Cao up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Cao tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Foreman just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cao pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foreman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cao counters with a single leg into guard. Foreman didn't expect that.
Cao throws and elbow that misses. Foreman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cao's guard. Nice move by Foreman!

Foreman prevents Cao from getting back to his feet.
Cao pulls Foreman in close to prevent any damage.
Cao wants to get back to his feet but Foreman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Foreman trying to control but Cao is working from the bottom.
Foreman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Foreman stands up and waves to Cao to follow him.
Cao tries for a takedown but Foreman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
David Foreman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cao throws a front kick that sends Foreman stumbling back into the cage.
Cao tries to clinch there but Foreman circles away.

Cao feints and as Foreman raises his hands in defense, Cao changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cao trying to control but Foreman is working from the bottom.

Foreman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Cao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Foreman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cao pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Foreman is keeping the position for now.
Cao with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cao slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Cao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Foreman misses with a double jab

and Cao counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Foreman!
Cao can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Foreman is looking to escape.

Foreman defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cao.
Cao content just to control the position here.

Cao landing punches.

Cao stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Foreman throws a sloppy head kick

and Cao counters with a takedown into side control.

Cao tries for a kimura but Foreman is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foreman wants to control but Cao postures up.
Cao throwing strikes but Foreman manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Cao is trying to get back to his feet.

Foreman stands up and beckons Cao to his feet.

Cao clinches with his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cao jumps guard but Foreman stands there with Cao around his waist. Cao gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cao jumps guard and drags Foreman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

David Foreman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cao looking to hit a scissor sweep but Foreman is one step ahead there.

Jet Cao comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cao has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
