PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Spahr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joel Camargo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Spahr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joel Camargo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spahr fails in his attempt to clinch.

Spahr moves in looking to clinch but Camargo pushes him off.

Camargo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Spahr, pushing him back against the cage.

Camargo lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Spahr or not.

Camargo tries to pull guard but Spahr holds him up against the cage and eventually Camargo drops back down to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spahr comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Spahr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spahr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Spahr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Camargo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Spahr just misses with a elbow thrown towards Camargo's brow.
Camargo fails to pull guard.
Spahr throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Camargo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Camargo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Spahr uses from the top position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Camargo kicks Spahr off and gets back to his feet.

Spahr clinches but Camargo breaks the clinch
and Camargo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Camargo lands a hook that snaps the head of Spahr backwards.
Camargo tries to stall but Spahr uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Spahr drops back, looking for a kneebar! Camargo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Camargo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Camargo!
Camargo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Spahr some visible discomfort.

Spahr seems to be working for a kimura but Camargo defends the submission attempt.

Camargo is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Spahr has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Camargo is tapping! This fight is all over!
