PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rock Dock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Chic - Good Times as his entrance music. Dick Johnson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rock Dock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dick Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson slow jab from Dock misses its intended target.

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Johnson trying to control the action but Dock is working from the bottom.
Dock is letting Johnson control him for a moment.
Dock is looking for a sweep.
Johnson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dock's legs.
Johnson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Johnson moves into full mount!
Dock is breathing heavily.
Johnson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Johnson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Dock wants to control but Johnson is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson controlling his opponent.
I looks like Johnson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Johnson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Johnson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Dock tries to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.
Johnson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dock wants to control but Johnson is having none of it.
Dock tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson controlling his opponent.
Johnson is landing with some decent strikes but Dock is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
A nice elbow there by Johnson.

Johnson wants to control the pace but Dock is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dick Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnson pushes Dock up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Johnson fails to land.
Johnson misses with an elbow over the top.
Dock jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Dock around his waist. Dock gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dock wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Johnson misses with some punches.
Dock is working for takedown but Johnson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Johnson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Johnson fails to land.
Johnson misses with some punches.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Johnson misses with a hook from the clinch.

Dock escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dock slips a jab from Johnson.

Dock looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Johnson!
BOOM! Dock connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Dock's attempts to control the action.
Johnson is looking to improve his position but Dock isn't that keen on the idea.
Dock trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Johnson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dock kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Dock misses with a head shot.
Dock content just to control the position here.
Johnson is trying to escape the mount.
Johnson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dick Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Johnson is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Dock flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Dock is out cold! Johnson holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dick Johnson!
