The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves scores with a takedown into De La Rosa's guard. De La Rosa is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Alves drops back looking for a leg! De La Rosa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De La Rosa manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into De La Rosa's guard. De La Rosa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alves! De La Rosa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Alves has worked his arm free - good work by Alves!
De La Rosa stands up and we're back to a striking position. De La Rosa throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily. De La Rosa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alves tries to clinch but De La Rosa moves out of range. De La Rosa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Alves scores a nice knee to the body.
Alves drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
De La Rosa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
De La Rosa using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Alves has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
De La Rosa takes an elbow to the forehead. De La Rosa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
De La Rosa looks gassed! De La Rosa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Alves smiles and moves away.
De La Rosa tries to keep at a distance but Alves has taken the fight into the clinch. Alves comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Alves lands a good knee to the midsection. De La Rosa won't want to take too many of those. Alves drops down looking for an ankle pick but De La Rosa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alves keeps the fight on the outside. De La Rosa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De La Rosa paws at him with a jab and circles away. Alves looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for De La Rosa! De La Rosa tries to reverse the position but Alves maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Alves connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Alves wants to control the pace but De La Rosa is squirming around nicely. Alves working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. De La Rosa turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Alves off and cradles De La Rosa's limp body as Alves celebrates with his corner.
