Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Garfunkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Marcus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Garfunkel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Marcus!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marcus throws a series of punches but Garfunkel avoids them all with ease.
Marcus tries to clinch but Garfunkel is having none of it.

Marcus gets caught flat footed, as Garfunkel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Garfunkel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marcus lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Garfunkel has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Garfunkel and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Jon Marcus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Garfunkel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Marcus sprawls well initially but Garfunkel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Marcus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Garfunkel is looking to control Marcus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Garfunkel avoid being mounted?

Garfunkel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marcus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Garfunkel, into his guard.

Marcus wants to pass the guard but Garfunkel is keeping the position.

Marcus throws and elbow that misses. Garfunkel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Marcus's guard. Nice move by Garfunkel!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Garfunkel checks a leg kick.
Garfunkel cracks Marcus with a good jab.
Garfunkel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marcus misses with a combination
and Garfunkel counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Marcus is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Garfunkel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marcus swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Marcus shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Garfunkel wants to control but Marcus is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Garfunkel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Marcus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garfunkel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jon Marcus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Marcus throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Garfunkel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Marcus misses with a series of wild punches.
Marcus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Garfunkel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Garfunkel cracks Marcus with a big right hand but Marcus just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Marcus wants to get back to his feet but Garfunkel is dominant here and he's now got Marcus's back!
Even with his hooks in, Garfunkel manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Garfunkel has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Marcus has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
