Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Saliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Saliva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Law! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Law shoots for a double leg takedown but Saliva sprawls well. Law keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Saliva throws a right hand that Law ducks under and follows up with a left that Law also avoids with ease. Law throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Saliva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Saliva. Law has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saliva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Law being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Law wants to stand and escape but Saliva is having none of it. Saliva stands and throws Law's legs to the side, diving into side control. Law looks gassed! Saliva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Saliva tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Saliva staying calm. Law is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Saliva has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saliva working the body and head with strikes. Law is trying to improve his position. A lull in the action here as Saliva stalls from top position. Law is working to avoid the ground and pound but Saliva connects with a decent elbow. Saliva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Saliva working the head and body with strikes. Saliva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Saliva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Saliva has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Law! Saliva looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Law is looking to improve his position but Saliva isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saliva controlling the position easily from mount. Saliva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Law can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Saliva stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Saliva scores with a takedown into Law's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Saliva trying to control the position from guard on top but Law is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Law wants to stand but Saliva is controlling the position. Law is working an open guard so Saliva takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Saliva shoots for a double leg takedown but Law sprawls well. He's pushed Saliva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Saliva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Law misses with a takedown attempt and Saliva counters with a leg kick. Law leaves Saliva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Saliva. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Law throws a hook to the side of Saliva's head but Saliva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Law throws a left and a right that both miss

That's one minute gone in the round. Law throws a sloppy head kick and Saliva moves out of range easily. Saliva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Saliva misses with an attempted head punch from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saliva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Law keeps working. Saliva is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Saliva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Law, who protects the arm well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saliva trying to control the action but Law is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saliva cracks Law with a big elbow. Saliva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Law is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Saliva lands a nice forearm strike. Law tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Saliva presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Saliva is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Law is surviving well by controlling Saliva's body position as best he can. Law tries to improve his position but Saliva has taken his back! Saliva has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Law tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Saliva pushes Law away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Saliva!
