Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Audet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Soboyt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Audet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Soboyt! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Audet is looking to clinch but Soboyt is avoiding it.
Soboyt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Audet sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Soboyt somewhat. Soboyt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Audet is fending him off so far but Soboyt persists. Nope, Audet circles away and we're back to standing. The fight stays on the outside here - Audet looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Audet tries to clinch there but Soboyt circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Soboyt. Nathan Audet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Soboyt. Audet leaves Soboyt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Audet scores with a takedown into Soboyt's guard. Audet postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Audet controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Audet postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Audet is working Soboyt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Soboyt is rocked! Audet thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Soboyt is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Audet stands up over Soboyt, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Audet gets to his feet and stands over Soboyt, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Soboyt felt that one! Audet unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Soboyt from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nathan Audet!
